JS Horsetrucks - For all your two-horse van needs

Updated: Jan 26, 2023

JS HORSETRUCKS is nestled in the heart of north County Dublin between Swords and Ashbourne. A family-owned company set up in 2013 by John and Lorna Scarff, JS Horsetrucks specialise in manufacturing two horse 3.5 tonne vans for the equestrian community. All components are built on site from the ground up. John showjumped up to Grand Prix level and has transported horses for many years for Ireland’s top international show jumpers.

COMBINED KNOWLEDGE

It is with this knowledge of the biomechanics of horses and John’s experience in transportation and coachbuilding that the concept for the business emerged. JS Horsetrucks is appropriately complimented by the family fibreglass business originally set up by John’s father, Arthur, in the 1970s. They cater to the top end of the market with the introduction of their European- style Equita build. The sleek and stylish finish rivals the top makes in two -horse vehicle manufacturing. They have a range aimed towards the racing market with some of Ireland’s best known trainers choosing custom builds, including Luke Comer, Jarlath Fahey and Gavin Cromwell.

Some of the challenges faced by JS Horsetrucks include the difficulty in obtaining skilled staff in the current economic climate. John explained that he is constantly striving to achieve a strong and durable vehicle without compromising on the weight and design of the build.

JS Horsetrucks have build slots booked right up to the summer of 2019 as they bring two-horse vehicles into the affordable market by building on new and used vehicles. They recently launched their rental business, which is proving popular in its infancy.

Lorna’s focus is on the customer. “I primarily deal with sales, and aftersales service – if there is an issue with a vehicle post sale, John and I are here to help. No doubt Brexit will have an impact on our business with some customers choosing to buy in the UK but we aim to give the highest level of after sales care. There is massive comfort in knowing that you have a local avenue of recourse in the event of any issue big or small for those customers who choose to buy on Irish soil,” she explained. To view their range of vehicles, simply contact info@jshorsetrucks.ie or call 087-6351556 to arrange an appointment. Contract hire and finance options are also available.
